We may offer you an appointment here as they are able to offer appointments when we cannot – making more appointments available for patients. They have GP’s, Practice and Staff nurses, Phlebotomists, HCA, Community Practitioners and Pharmacists; the practice is fully equipped and in an accessible location in the city centre. These can be booked in advance/on the day.
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapists treat problems with movement and posture, including diseases and injuries to bones, joints and muscles, such as back pain, whiplash injuries, arthritis, sprains, strains and sports injuries.
We have an in-house team of physiotherapists that are available for telephone and face to face consultations. These can be booked in through reception.
Pharmacists
Pharmacists are highly trained health professionals and can give you confidential health advice for a range of common illnesses and complaints. Our practice currently employs clinical pharmacists whose main responsibility is completing structured medication reviews for patients with long term conditions or patients with complex medicine regimes.
In May 2023, NHS England launched the ‘Pharmacy First’ service. This service is designed to free up GP appointments for patients who need them most and will give people quicker and more convenient access to safe and high-quality healthcare. Local pharmacies can supply prescription-only medicines, including antibiotics and antivirals where clinically appropriate, to treat seven common health conditions without the need to visit a GP. These conditions include: Sinusitis, Sore throat, Earache, Infected insect bites, Shingles, Uncomplicated urinary tract infections in women and Impetigo.
Don’t wait for a GP appointment for coughs, colds, aches and pains. Just give your local pharmacy a call or drop in – there’s no need to make an appointment. We can / may also refer you to a pharmacy for treatment.
Your pharmacists can also help you decide if you need to see a doctor or nurse.

Mental Health Nurse
The Mental Health Practitioner (MHP) for your GP practice is an experienced, skilled clinician, who can offer you an assessment of your mental health, and any difficulties you might have, so that together you can develop a plan. They have access to a wide range of resources, which can be used to help and guide you to improve your emotional and mental health. MHP is a joint venture between Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust and the Primary Care Network (PCN).
Your GP will make a referral to the MHP, outlining what yours and their concerns are, what you hope to gain from the referral, and any specific information that may be useful for the MHP to be aware of (e.g., medications, health issues, any relevant mental health history). The MHP will review the referral and contact you, usually by phone in the first instance. This allows you to briefly discuss your needs and goals, and to ensure they are the most appropriate person to help you. You may then be invited to meet the MHP in person for an initial assessment. Here your health concerns will be explored in more detail. Together we will work on a plan for supporting your needs. Your plan may include interventions such as guided self-help, referral into other services, signposting, and advice, or short-term follow up sessions. If longer term input is needed, the MHP will explore this with you.
