Private Medical Reports and Services

1.What is a Private Medical Report?

NHS patients occasionally need care that is outside of what the NHS covers. This can include reports and medicals like:

  • armed-forces, Taxi or DVLA medical assessments
  • mortgage/health/life insurance medicals
  • fostering/adoption medicals
  • medical assessments for working abroad (camp America and similar schemes)

2.Will I have to pay for a Private Medical Report or Examination?

The table below shows the list of Fees for Non-NHS services at the Practice. Fees are based on:

  • Time taken to complete a physical examination by a clinician (if required)
  • A review of your full medical history by a GP to complete a report
  • Administration time in filing and preparing medical reports/examinations

Payment is decided by the clinicians and then arranged via an invoice for online BACS transfer, if this method is not suitable, please discuss this when submitting your medical from to us.

3. How long does this process take?

You may see the form as a quick sign-it and leave, thinking that it just needs a signature or quick conversation however, a lot more goes into a medical report even if it only requires a few questions from a GP.

Private medical reports can take up to 28 days to complete and any examination appointments are arranged on a routine basis. We cannot complete private medical reports urgently.

Often, a doctor is signing the report to say that they are happy with their knowledge of a patient, that they will be safe in a certain scenario or that the medical information provided is factually correct. This can only be assessed by:

  • being familiar with the whole patient history (requires reviewing of all the whole patient notes)
  • and in some cases may include physically assessing the patient (level of detail determined by form or by the intended activity)
